Opal was born July 31, 1926, in Marion, North Carolina the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Mattie (England) Trinks. She and Howard Clontz were united in marriage on December 21, 1952. They were married for 29 years and to this day, remain lifelong friends. Opal was a homemaker who dedicated herself to her family and to the care of others. Her faith was unwavering and she took great comfort in the Scriptures with her Bible always being close at hand. She took pride in her beautiful garden, especially her flowers. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers - when they were winning! Opal volunteered at the Humane Society of Genesee County and considered the staff her family. Her sweet smile will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda Pillow, granddaughter, Amy Gunn, and Kris Stratman, sister, June Serpas, brother, Larry Trinks, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Jerry Pillow, sisters; Bertha Elliott, Pearl Dawson, and Ruby Anderson, and brothers; Jack, Lloyd, Ted, Roy, and Harold Trinks.
The family would like to thank Maple Woods Manor in Clio and Heart to Heart Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Opal. During her time at Maple Woods, the staff truly became her extended family.
