Age 91 of Flint, died Sunday, March 27, 2016, at The Pines of Burton. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Davison on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 12:00 Noon. William’s family will be present at the church to receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 Noon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be considered to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church or Carriage Town Ministries. Envelopes will be available at the church. William was born June 30, 1924, in Flint, the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Verlon and Amber (Severance) McDonald. William served in the United States Marine Corp from August 14, 1941 until September 17, 1945, during World War II. He served in the Pacific and participated in Battles at Guadalcanal, New Guinea, Cape Gloucester and Peleliu Island from May 20, 1942 until November 17, 1944. He was a member of the 1st Marine Division, 2nd Battalion and 11th Dog Battery. He and Janetta Bullard were united in marriage on August 19, 1945, in LaPorte, Indiana. He worked as an Engineer for C&O Railroad for 35 years. William was a hardworking man and was known to many as Uncle Micky. He was crazy about his wife and was great at telling tall tales. He had a comical personality, and loved to golf, fish and snowmobile in his free time. He carried a special place in his heart for his church and his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who brought him great joy in life! Left to cherish his memory are children: Bill and wife, Karen McDonald, Nancy Michener, Jerry McDonald, Ron and wife, Dottie McDonald and Marcia and husband, Paul Poley; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janetta, brother, Tom McDonald, sisters, Wava McDonald and Reva Michaud.
