William Evans

April 30, 1935 — December 27, 2015

Evans, William Richard “Judge” of Mt. Morris, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 27, 2015. The funeral service will be held at the Mayfair Bible Church, 5339 W. Pierson Rd. in Flushing, on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 3:00 pm. Rev. Dean Stewart and Rev. Jerry Beach officiating with a private family burial to follow at Mt. Morris Cemetery. The family will receive friends at church on Wednesday from 12:30 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Mayfair Bible Church where Bill was a member or to the Genesee Christian School. Envelopes are available at the church. William was born in Flint, on April 30, 1935, the son of Robert and Violet (Lyle) Evans. He lived in Mt. Morris all of his life except while attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School where he played baseball, football, and basketball. He attended Flint Junior College, where he also played basketball, and received his Associates degree in Engineering. He then attended the University of Michigan where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He married Margaret Kathleen “Kay” Ridley on September 1, 1956. He then attended the University of Michigan Law School where he earned the degree of Juris Doctor. He practiced Law with his father, Robert, for ten years. William Evans was elected in 1969 and retired in 1996. He enjoyed teaching God’s Word at the Flint Bible Institute and in many Sunday school classes. He was a long time member of the Mt. Morris Kiwanis Club. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Kay; son, Evan L. Evans and wife Danielle; daughters, Cynthia K Alberts and husband Mark; Deborah J. Hoeflinger and husband Rod; Tamara L. Harshman and husband Dale; 16 grandchildren: Lynnette, Anthony (Sara), Daniel, Kimberly (Santana), Angella (Mitch), Janel (Jake), Adam, Benjamin (Sirena), Andrew, Brittany, Mitchell, Alexis, Talia, Keara, Josalyn, and Lacie; 6 great-grandchildren: Madilyn, Elena, Katelynn, Douglas, Daylynn,, and Desirae; sisters Alice (Ernest) Southworth and Barbara Lutz, and brother-in-law John Adle. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sally Adle, brother-n-law Austin Lutz, and son-in-law David Stace.
