William "Bill" Davis

January 2, 1929 — January 26, 2015

Age 86, of Clio, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 26, 2015, at Maple Woods Manor. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter will officiate with a private burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. William’s family will be present at church to receive friends on Wednesday, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the “Pave the Way Fund” at Messiah Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the church. William “Bill” was born January 2, 1929, in Hawk Run, Pennsylvania, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas and Margaret (Nolan) Davis. He and Alice Brown were united in marriage on December 27, 1949, in Syracuse, New York. Bill proudly served in the United States Army during World War II for 3 years until receiving his honorable discharge on January 17, 1949. He worked for General Motors at their Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac (B.O.C) Plant for 32 years until his retirement in 1986, and was a member of UAW Local #599. Bill and Alice helped form the Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio 53 years ago and are still active members. Bill was also a member and past Commander of the American Legion Post #158. In his free time, William enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling back home to Pennsylvania and woodworking. Bill, is also known for his volunteer work throughout the Clio area, helping build Veterans Memorial Park and the “Pillars of Pride” that stand within the Clio Area Schools. Left to cherish his memory, wife of 65 years Alice; six children: Karen Winans, Dianna Rogers, Melodee Davis, Margaret Davis, William E. and wife, Julie Davis, II and Jodi and husband, Clifford Huff; 9 grandchildren and 11great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Hensel; and many other family members and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mae Ulbrick, grandson Edward, great-grandson Braydon and son-in-law Dean Winans. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Reverence Ho spice and the entire staff at Maple Woods Manor for all the loving and compassionate care.
