Age 90, of Vassar, died Monday, December 26, 2016, at Bay Care County Health Facility in Essexville. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, December 30, 2016, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, in Vassar, at 11:00 am. Fr. Richard Jozwiak to officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services- Vassar on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and at church on Friday, from 10:00 am until time of mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions made in Bill’s memory to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and at church. William was born August 18, 1926, in Caro, to the late Mr. & Mrs. William B. and Antionette (Potowski) Baranski. Bill was the youngest of his family’s 10 children and served his country in the United States Navy before retiring from General Motors as an inspector in 1986. Bill enjoyed duck hunting with his family at Fish Point, going on his daily mile walk, keeping himself busy with yardwork around the house, and vacationing in Florida with his late wife, Alane (Surgent), where he enjoyed going to the dog and horse track to watch the races. Bill loved watching and coaching baseball and was a Detroit Tigers fan. Left to cherish his memory are his four daughters: Susan McClure, Marsha and husband, Larry Leach, Sally and husband, Greg Franko, Joni and husband, John Fritz; Son, James and wife, Monica Baranski; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nine older siblings.
