Walter Wayne White, 75, of Flint, Mich., passed away March 23, 2019, peacefully at home. Walt was born Feb. 9, 1944, in Royal Oak, Mich. He graduated from St. Mary Catholic School in Royal Oak. Walt was an award-winning pipefitter and steamfitter, and a member of Detroit Pipefitters Local 636. Throughout his career, he worked on numerous large-scale construction jobs throughout Detroit and the Midwest in the automotive and nuclear power industries. He was a very skilled tradesman and proud of his work and union membership. Walt was an avid reader and pursued lifelong education in history, mechanics, literature, philosophy, astronomy, and other subjects. He loved movies and music, especially Blues. His hobbies included playing the guitar, collecting state-of-the-art electronics, riding motorcycles, sports cars, and boating. He also loved horticulture and was known for his green thumb. He was most passionate about food. Walt enjoyed exploring different restaurants and cuisines and preparing elaborate meals for family and friends. Walt is survived by his children, grandchildren and his beloved dog, Louie. Private services will be held.
