Age 95, passed away at her residence. In accordance with Vera's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be celebrated at a later date at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vera was born December 12, 1924, in East Jordan, the daughter of Jacob and Alta (Bancroft) McKeage. Vera's family moved to Flint in 1928, where she was raised. Vera was educated locally, graduating from Flint Northern High School with the Class of 1942. After graduation, Vera went to work as a secretary in the orthopedic clinic at St. Joseph's Hospital. Vera would meet the love of her life, Myles Allen. The couple dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on February 7, 1948. Vera was an active member of the Mt. Morris First United Methodist Church, holding many leadership positions. Her interests included traveling, sewing, reading mysteries, swimming, figure skating, cooking, crossword puzzles, fishing, volunteering, and spending summers at the lake with her two grandsons. Later in life, Vera would go on to earn an Associate's Degree from Mott Community College in 1989. Vera is survived by her daughters: Nancy Allen and Margaret Allen-Quaderer; son-in-law, Rudolph Quaderer; grandsons: Dr. Nathan Quaderer and Ryan Quaderer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Myles L. Allen Sr., son, Myles L. Allen Jr., sisters: Doris Allen, Analee McKeage, Amy Moore, and Edith Hodgeson; brothers-in-law, Earl, Jim, and Ted. Vera was a strong, kind person. Her adventurous nature will be dearly missed.
