Of Rochester Hills, formerly of Essexville, age 62, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Crittenton Hospital, after a courageous battle with ALS. A Celebration of TomAaas Life will take place 11:00am, Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Potere-Modetz Funeral Home in Rochester. Mr. Abdol Ebrat will officiate, with cremation to follow. The family will be present to receive friends at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, 339 Walnut Blvd, Rochester, MI 48307, on Monday, January 24 from 1:00pm until 8:00pm, and on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the ALS of Michigan. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Tom was born July 26, 1948 in Bay City, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Mary (Bender) Fick. He and Sandra Bowles were united in marriage December 6, 1969 in Flint, Michigan. He graduated from GMI in 1971. Tom continued his education at The University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, earning a MBA in 1996. He worked as an engineer for General Motors for 42 years; retiring in November 2008. Tom leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 41 years, Sandra; two sons, Robert and Jeremy; brother, John and wife, Sheryl Fick; brother-in-law, Don Wenglikowski; father-in-law, Richard Bowles, brother-in-law, Michael and wife, Evelyn Bowles; two sisters-in-law, Diane and husband, Bill Wall and Sheila and husband, Wayne Sakuta; special niece and very dear friends, Mary and husband Abdol Ebrat, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Wenglikowski; and mother-in-law, Dorthy Bowles. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Daniel Newman, Stephanie Ryzcko, and Simone Bradford.
