Theresa Rivett, age 89, passed away May 17, 2018. She was born in Mt. Morris Twp., on January 28, 1929, to Mr. and Mrs. Elmer and Gladys Valley. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, with cremation to follow. Theresa’s family will be present at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Monday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Monday evening, the family will gather for a Eulogy at 6:00 pm. On Tuesday morning, Theresa will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. She married Charles Rivett on August 6, 1949. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1957. Theresa volunteered all around her community at Cross Roads Village, Senior Olympics and Abilities First Charitable Organization of MI Inc. She was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Area #3485 and American Legion Auxiliary. She spent all of her life devoted to her family and faith. She attended and volunteered at All Saints Catholic Church for many years. She retired from AC/Delphi in 1998 after over 25 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 651. Theresa enjoyed line dancing, square dancing, jitter bug, swing, clogging; wherever there was dancing in the community, she was there. She was always crocheting, knitting or quilting something for family members or to enter in the Senior Olympics. Surviving her are 3 children: James Rivett, David Rivett, and Dawn (Dave) Shurter; 3 grandchildren: Sandra (Daniel) Trevillian, Michael Rivett, and Kelly Cooper; 3 great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Donald, and Samuel. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters: Yvonne Bois, and Lorraine Denman; 4 brothers: Al, Harold, Norman, and Frank Valley; 2 sisters-in-law: Jeanie and Eleanor Valley. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caregivers at Birchwood Meadows II. “We are grateful for all your understanding and compassionate care over this journey. We would also like to thank Evergreen Hospice for picking up the slack when we couldn’t be there. It meant a lot to us knowing someone else was watching out for her.” In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Abilities First Charitable of MI. Inc. or the Alzheimer’s Association.
