Ted Long

Age 82, of Mt. Morris, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019, the funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris with burial to follow at Thetford Twp. Cemetery. Ted's family will be present to receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday, from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Ted was born in Flint, on Wednesday, January 13, 1937, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest and Marjorie (Taylor) Long. Ted worked production for V-8 Engine Plant in Flint for over 30 years before retiring. He was a long-time member of UAW Local #659. He proudly served in the United States Army, serving as a Private Second Class in Germany from 1954 until 1957. In his free time, Ted enjoyed bluegrass music, he played the banjo, dobro, and the guitar. He also enjoyed clog and ballroom dancing. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Ted (Wendy) Long, Danny Long, Karen (Tim) Helzerman, and Debbie (Jeremy Cherniawski) Long; 9 grandchildren: and 5 great-grandchildren: and many other family members. Ted was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald; three sisters: Lily, Gail, and Ella; and his great-granddaughter, Marlo Clark.
