Sumie Sawyer

Age 82, of Mt. Morris died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Genesee Twp. Grandson’s Rev. Michael Vogt and Rev. Chris Vogt officiating with cremation to follow. Sumie’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Wednesday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Thursday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren – Flint. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Sumie was born April 27, 1933, in Japan. She married Merle H. Sawyer, Jr. on October 22, 1954. Sadly, he preceded her in death on December 16, 1995. In her free time, Sumie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, and taking care of her flower gardens. Left to cherish her memory, two daughters: Pamela Vogt and significant other, Bryan Lehr, and Peggy and husband, Jeff Roth; four grandchildren: Michael and wife, Lindsay Vogt, Chris and wife, Nichole Vogt, Zachary Roth and Trent Lehr; and many other family members and friends. Sumie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Merle.
