Of Mt. Morris, age 87, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 12:00noon at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Mark Conn will officiate with burial to follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday at 11:00am until the time of service at 12:00noon. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial to the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Stanley was born November 4, 1922 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon and Lillian (Poitras) Clark. He and Marie Louise Quintel were united in marriage September 27, 1947. He was a 1941 graduate from Flint Central High School and played the trombone in the marching band. He was also a member of the Groves Band. Upon graduation Stanley went to work for General Motors. He was then drafted by the United States Army where he first served in the seventh Army, then the 339th Ordnance Depot in the European Theatre which took him to Belgium, North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. Stanley and Marie immensely enjoyed attending Army reunions in Oklahoma, Idaho and Ohio. After discharge from the Army, he returned to work for General Motors at Fisher Body #1 in Flint and retired as an Automotive General Foreman in 1976. Stanley was also a member of the Charles A. Durand Lodge #23, at the Masonic Temple in Flint for 62 years. Stanley leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Marie, children; Kathryn and husband, William Holloway, Nancy and husband, Michael Standerfer, Dennis Clark, Stanley R. and wife, Patricia Clark Jr., Janice (Clark) Hubbs and friend, Cheryl Chapman, grandchildren; Amanda and husband, Scott Pukenas, Andrew Holloway, Emily Holloway, Erik and wife, Alicia Standerfer, Jeannie and husband, Joseph Heystek, Kelly and wife, Jennifer Standerfer, Scott and wife, Letha Harnick, Jason and wife, Christine Harnick, great-grandchildren; Abigail and Max Pukenas, Alex, Payton, Lindsey, and Ian Standerfer, Roman Heystek, Jordan Harnick, Morley, Cody, and Brayden Harnick, brother; Paul and wife, Glenna Clark and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Benjamin and Ivan, grandchildren; Jackie and Christopher Harnick. The family would like to thank all who cared for Stanley during his stay at the Maple Woods Manor.
