Shirley Harper

August 25, 1929 — September 9, 2009

Of Fostoria, age 80, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 3:00pm, Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the LifeLine Victory Center in Vassar. Pastor Wally Reames will officiate with burial to follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Barton City. ShirleyAaas family will receive friends at church from 1:00pm until time of service at 3:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Vassar Food Pantry at LifeLine Victory Center. Envelopes are available at church. Shirley was born August 25, 1929 in Arcadia Township, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James and Emily (Cook) Lonsberry. She and Lewis C. Harper were united in marriage December 6, 1952 in Attica, Michigan. They were married for 47 years. During their union they were blessed with 5 boys. She and Lewis raised their children with strong family values, teaching them the importance of taking care of one another. Sadly on February 23, 1999 Lewis preceded her in death. She was a 4-H leader for 54 years and also a Hospice Volunteer. Shirley loved to watch Little House on the Prairie, read the Bible and brag about her children and grandchildren. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her five children; (Ret.) Col. James C. and wife, Bonnie Harper, Sgt. Gregory Harper and friend, Laura Hernigle, Michael and wife, Stacey Harper, Timothy and wife, Meranda Harper, Joseph and wife, Joelle Harper; 13 grandchildren; Elizabeth, Kimberly, Jennifer, Allison, Megan, Bryon, Lauren, Shelby, Jessica and husband, Travis, Brandon, Zachary, Christopher and Jamie; 3 siblings; Maxine and husband, Jack McInally, James and wife, Wanda Lonsberry, Douglas and wife, Ann Trim; several nieces, nephews, friends; especially to her closest friends, Carolyn Savage and Lois Eberline. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Lewis.
