SKUTT (VINCENT), Sherife Alison Of Flint and Mt. Morris, age 97, died Friday, September 26, 2008 in Denton, Texas. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Reverend Alfonzo Vincent will officiate with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Morris or The Compass Hospice of Decatur, Texas. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Sherife was born January 21, 1911 in Dewey, OK the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Mary (McDonald) Irvine. She married Leonard Vincent in September 1926 in Flint, Michigan at the age of 15. Leonard was employed at Buick and preceded her in death on December 31, 1978. Sherife then married Vern Skutt in January 1982. Vern was employed at Chevrolet Manufacturing and preceded her in death on May 14, 1993. Sherife was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Morris, Michigan. She was a wife and homemaker who raised five children through the Great Depression of the 1930s. In her later years she enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and reading. She is survived by her three daughters Maxine and (Robert) Wood of Sisters, OR, Joyce and (Don) Williams of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, and Barbara Vincent of Denton, TX, daughter-in-law Zelpha Vincent of Mt. Morris, MI, step-daughter Wilma and (Alex) Kumrits of Davison, MI, step son Gary and (Janet) Skutt, of Belews Creek, SC, sister Rosabelle Dreasky of Flint, MI, 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three children: infant daughter, Mildred, two sons, Leonard and Gerald, two grandsons, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter, two brothers and four sisters.
