Sharon Thompson- Whipple

October 8, 1944 — November 14, 2019

Age 75, of Clio, died Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Serenity Assisted Living in Flint. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Bryan Spooner to officiate, with burial at Flint Memorial Park. Sharon's family will be present at the funeral home to receive guests on Tuesday, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to The Humane Society of Genesee County or The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Donations may be made through Sharon’s memorial page at www.martinfuneralhome.com, or envelopes are available at the funeral home. Born on October 8, 1944, in Flint. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Verna (Huthnance) Kimsel. Educated locally, Sharon took a break in her education but graduated from Swartz Creek High School 1983. Sharon was employed by K-Mart for thirty years, working at the location on Dort Highway. Sharon loved dogs, especially the German Shepherd, and Dotson breeds. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Sharon would meet, fall in love and marry the love of her life, Laslee George Thompson, in 1967, in Mount Morris. Their union would last for twenty-five years until Laslee’s death in 1992. Sharon was a beloved sister and aunt, who will be dearly missed by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters: Ruth Ann Hill, and Barbara and husband, Garry Greenway; brothers: Paul "Sonny" and wife, Carol Kimsel, and Gary and wife, Sherry Kimsel; nieces and nephews: Teresa and husband, Viran Marshall, Marina and husband, Barry Kaleky, Dan and wife, Lisa Hill, Diana and husband, Dwight, Roberta and husband, Bryan Spooner, Scott Gray, Kevin Gray, Denise Gray, Connie, Mark Teicher, Stacey Teicher, Robbie Kimsel, Mickey Kimsel, Steven, Lara, and Joanne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laslee, parents, and two sisters, Carol Gray, and Mary Teisher. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ruth Hill and Barbara Greenway for their loving care of their sister.
