Of Flushing, age 86, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at his home. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Dale Lewis will officiate with burial to follow. Samuel's family will be present at the funeral home on Thursday to receive friends from 11:00am until 8:00pm. On Friday from 10:00am until time of service at 1:00pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mac was born April 28, 1927, in Lancaster, South Carolina, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Broadus and Izzie (Vaughn) Plyler. He and Nettie Catoe were united in marriage in Lancaster, South Carolina in July of 1952. He worked for Chevy in the Hole for 30 plus years until retiring in 1989 and was a member of UAW Local #659. Samuel proudly served in the United States Army during WWII for 2 years until receiving his honorable discharge. Mac enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cooking, traveling to Florida, golfing and fishing. Left to cherish his memory, 4 children, Gary (Judy) Plyler, Jennifer Glady, Judy (Duane) Devine and Carol Branch; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Joseph Branch; 3 siblings, Nancy Hunter, Clyde (June) Plyler and Andrew (Barbara) Plyler; and many other family members and friends. Samuel was preceded in death by his wife Nettie "Marge," son Kenneth, daughter Susan Melinda, son-in-law Rick Glady, parents Broadus and Izzie, brother Gene and sister Mildred.
