FAUR, Sam Lee\ \ Of Mt. Morris, age 56, died Friday, November 2, 2007 at Hurley Medical Center. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30am, Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at SS. Charles & Helena Catholic Church of Clio. Rev. Fr. Gerald Ploof will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will greet friends and loved ones from 6:00pm until 9:00pm Sunday evening, from 10:00am until 8:00pm Monday, on Tuesday Sam will be taken to SS. Charles & Helena Church of Clio to lie in state from 9:00am until the time of service at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Family Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.\ \ Sam was born April 5, 1951 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Salomie (Westfall) Faur. He and Cynthia Faur were united in marriage on June 4, 1993 in Flint. Sam was a race car builder, owner and operator of Windpushers Racing Products, Inc. since 1981. He was an avid race car enthusiast who accumulated multiple feature wins at numerous race tracks. As a child he and life long friend John Belott would sneek into Auto City Speedway climb the trees and watch the races for free. He helped start the IMCA Modified division in the state of Michigan. He also mentored other rookie drivers in the beginning of their career. Sam then passed the steering wheel over to his sons and helped them follow in their fathers footsteps. After many years of driving he stepped behind the microphone as a commentator of Race Talk Radio along with friend Larry Loynes and Cy Fairchild. He will be greatly missed within the racing community.\ \ Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cynthia Faur, son Chad (Tina) Faur, stepdaughter Christina (Rob) Blackall, 4 grandchildren Ashley and Griffin Faur, Eric and Lila Blackall, close relatives Cindy (Dave) Tuttle, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and dear family members Melissa Borowiak, the Belott family, Craig (Colleen) Freeman, Jerry Halpin, Jan Novak, Jack Varney and Phil (Becky) Bone.\ \ Sam was preceded in death by his son, Anthony "A.J." Faur in October 25, 2006, brother Pete Faur and parents Sam and Salomie Faur.\
