Gill, Ryan Michael of Clio/Royal Oak. Age 28, died April 16, 2018. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018, 3:00 pm, at Miles Martin Funeral Home, 1194 E. Mt Morris Road, Mt. Morris Michigan. Pastor Travis Welch will be officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations will support the School and Community Outreach Programs at the University of Michigan. Ryan was born in Flint, on July 13, 1989, the son of Dwayne Gill and Deborah (Sheridan) VanAlst. Ryan was the baby of the family and adored his big brother, Aaron. Ryan attended Clio schools and excelled at everything he did. It started with t-ball, youth football, bumper bowling, Jet-League basketball, and chess club in his elementary and middle school years. In high school, football was his favorite, playing linebacker and running back. Academically he was phenomenal, graduating Salutatorian of his 2007 class. Ryan went on to graduate with highest honors from Western Michigan University in 2012, with a Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Supply Management. After college, he worked as a Supervisor for Pepsi before landing a prestigious position with General Motors as a specialized buyer at the Warren Tech Center. He loved his job and had already been promoted in his short time there. Some of Ryan’s many interests included boating, traveling, fishing, card playing, cornhole, and he loved socializing with friends and family. Ryan had a contagious smile and vibrant enthusiasm that always lit up the room and brightened the mood. He had an energy and poise about him that drew people in, captivating them with his wit and charm. Ryan was a natural born leader and always the perfect gentleman, but he always “said it like it was”. He lived life to the fullest and embraced every challenge with grit and a smile. Driven by his competitive nature, his determination and work ethic were unparalleled. Ryan’s impact on those around him was so great, that his influence and legacy will live on in everyone he has touched forever. He will be deeply missed by all. Ryan leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Deborah VanAlst (Neil) and Dwayne Gill (Yvette); his brother/best friend Aaron Gill, sister-in-law Laura (Phillips) Gill who gave Ryan his precious niece Mya and nephew Ryker. Ryan absolutely cherished them. Step-siblings, Ian VanAlst (Brooke), Madison VanAlst, Olivia VanAlst, Wes Schlaire and Cheyenne Coleman. Grandparents, Lee and Judy Sheridan, Nancy and Dale Joley, Charles Gill and Wayne Smith. Uncles, Michael Sheridan, Jeffrey (Tricia) Sheridan, Aunt Barbara (Geoffrey) Taylor. Cousins, Sarah Sheridan, Matthew Sheridan, Luke Sheridan, Mark Guest, Anthony Taylor. Girlfriend, Rachel Hurley. He will also be dearly missed by many, many friends, family, colleagues, and co-workers. Ryan was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Rita Gill-Smith.
