Ruth Dowd

Age 78 of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at her home. Funeral service will take place 11:00 am Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio, Michigan. Pastor Erik Cloeter will officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Animal Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the church. Ruth was born on December 11, 1937 to Mr. and Mrs. Herman and Ruth (Gray) Jacobi. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School. She and Dale were united in marriage on June 30, 1956 in Flint, Michigan. She worked for K-Mart, then retired from Moore Elementary School in Mt. Morris. Ruth enjoyed walking, reading and jig-saw puzzles. She loved her pet dogs. Ruth loved spending time up north at Higgins Lake, Michigan and her sons cabin in Gladwin, Michigan. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Dale Dowd; children: Debra and husband Don Grigar, DeAnn and husband Jim Krapohl, Tim and wife Nikki Dowd; grandchildren: Jason (Meghan) Dowd, Ryan Dowd, Jordon and wife Meghan Grigar, Nicole and husband Aaron Groh, Stacy and husband Cory Landon, McKenna Dowd; great-grandchildren: Connor Grigar, Evan Grigar, Juniper Dowd, Emma Landon, Hailey Landon, Jamie Landon; sisters: Gloria and husband Wayne Pannett, Marilyn Dissen; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Ashly Fahey; brother and sisters: Tom Jacobi, Kathy Gifford, and Karen Griffin. Family would like to extend a special thank you to Jennie, Shannon, Minnie, Cecilia and others from Kindred Hospice.
