Rowland Raymond

Of Sterling Heights, formerly of Flint, Michigan, age 73, died Saturday, December 5, 2015, surrounded by his family. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 11:00 am at Miles Martin Funeral Home in Genesee Twp. Pastor Dan Baldermann to officiate, with burial to follow in Mt. Morris Cemetery. Rowland’s family will receive friends at Miles Martin Funeral Home in Genesee Twp. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Rowland’s memory to American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Rowland was born in Marion, Michigan on January 22, 1942, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell and Beatrice (Hart) Raymond. Rowland and Linda Mahoney were united in marriage on January 30, 1965 and shared 50 years together. Mr. Raymond was a Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge # 535 in Mt. Morris, Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Michigan in Mt. Morris, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris. Rowland was a Mt. Morris High School Graduate Class of 1960 and would go on receive his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1964. He would use that degree to establish a career as a Graphic Artist, working for The Flint Journal for 35 years. Left to cherish Rowland’s memory are his wife, Linda Lu (Mahoney) Raymond; Children: Derek J. Raymond and wife, Catherine Blackler, and Clayt E. Raymond and wife, Lori; four grandchildren: Caroline, Elizabeth, Jack, and Logan; brother, Greg Raymond and wife, Phyllis; four nieces: Tonia, Trisha, Tiffany, and Tammy; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
