Age 82, died, January 27, 2020, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian burial will take place 12:00 Noon, Saturday, February 8, 2020, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning to officiate with a private burial at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Rosalie’s family will be present at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, on Friday from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. On Saturday morning, Rosalie will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until 12:00 Noon. Family and friends will gather on Friday afternoon, for a prayer service at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy and donations can be made from Rosalie’s tribute wall on martinfuneralhome.com. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home and church. Rosalie was born on August 3, 1937, in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sebastian and Cecilia (Szymanski) Ratz. She and Byron McCarthy were united in marriage on May 26, 1972. Sadly he preceded her in death on June 26, 2017. In 1974, she graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint. She spent her forty-year career in the financial department with GM-SPO. With her spare time, she kept herself very busy as a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Carmelite OCDS, St. Mary’s Emmanuel Prayer Group, Genesee County Jail Catholic Ministry, Master Gardeners, Genesee County Easter Seals, RSVP, Yard and Garden Club of Flint, McLaren Auxiliary, and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Colleen and husband, Michael Herringshaw, Jack P. McCarthy and Amy, Debra L. and husband, James Callaghan, Karen S. and husband, Scott Hinrichs, Michael B. McCarthy; grandchildren, Tiffany, Emily, Kelly, Austin, Ryan, Dylan, Joshua, and Sophia; great-grandsons: Zachary, Alexander, and Vincent; and nieces and nephews. Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byron McCarthy; sister, Barbara and husband, Bernie Hanses.
