Roland C. Baxter passed away Sunday morning, September 21, 2008 while at the Tendercare Health Center in Frankenmuth, Michigan. He was 82 years old. Roland, known lovingly by his family and friends, as AaA"BumAaA was a life time resident of Tuscola where he raised his family along with his wife Barbara. Bum retired from Saginaw Steering Gear in 1991, where he worked as a skilled tradesman. He was a member of the UAW #699. Bum was also a long time member of the Tuscola Community Church. Bum and Barbara were married in 1951. Bum is survived by his wife, as well as his 3 sons; Terry and Cindy Baxter, and their two daughters; Christie Fitzpatrick and Angie Baxter, along with Terry and CindyAaas grandchildren; Alex, Amanda, and Timmy, Dan Baxter and his daughter, Kim, Jeff and Diane Baxter and their children; Shannon, Maureen, Alyssa and Jeffrey. He is also survived by his sisters Leila Johnston and Ethel Emery and his brother, Gene Thompson. Bum was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Depottey, his brother, Rex Baxter and his sister, Janet Fisher. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 11:00am at the Martin Funeral Home-Vassar. Pastor Greg Shepard officiating with burial to follow at Tuscola Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Wednesday from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be considered to the Tuscola Community Church Benevolence Fund or to the AlzheimerAaas Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
