Age 73, of Clio, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Paul Emory to officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Roger Ledford was born on November 9, 1951, in Marion, North Carolina, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Lois (Beam) Ledford. Educated locally, Roger attended Kearsley High School upon returning to receive his GED in 1989. He worked as a lineman for General Motors from 1970 until his well-earned retirement in 1989 as a member of the UAW 599. He would be blessed with eight beautiful children that he would cherish deeply.
In his free time, Roger would often be found playing his guitar and banjo. He had a love for music and would play just about any genre, ranging from rock and roll, to country, and much more. He also loved cheering for the Detroit Lions, as well as buying and collecting various classic and muscle cars, such as his Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, and Corvette. Also leading a life of faith, Roger would read from his bible often and watch virtual sermons from his favorite preacher, Charles Lawson.
Left to cherish his memory are his eight children: Amy and husband, Chris Woodall, Alisha and husband, Chris Clark, Julie and husband, Kerry Klein, Roger and wife, Alicia Ledford, Ashlie and husband, Greg McKay, Joseph and wife, Arianna Ledford, John Ledford, Jared Ledford; his 23 grandchildren: Whitney, Taylor, Jordan, Kendra, Chloe, Christopher, Quinn, Blake, Drue, Toni, Haylie, Ayla, Mya, London, Jaiden, Jaxen, Lauren, Owen, Tollin, Dodge, Finnegan, Linkin, Avanelle; his four great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Brooks, Bodhi, Miles; his four siblings: Judy Emery, Sandy Murdock, Rick Ledford, Mickey Astenborski; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents: Sam and Lois Ledford; his sister: Shirley Emory; his two brother-in-laws: Bob Murdock, George Emery; and his grandson: Nicholas.
