Robert Temple

January 23, 1911 — May 14, 2009

Our sweet, wonderful Dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle and faithful friend entered the presence of Jesus on May 14, 2009, at home, after a short illness, in his 99th year. Today he is rejoicing in Heaven. Visitation will be held at MartinAaas Funeral Home in Vassar on Sunday, May 17 from12 noon to 4:00pm and again from 5:00 tom 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, May 18 at the First Baptist Church in Vassar, on Frankenmuth Rd. Pastor David Somers and Pastor Brett Boomsma will officiate with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Survived by 5 children, Kay (David) Henry of Siberia, Shirley (Tom) Spear of New York, Nancy (Louis) Horwath of Canada, daughter-in-law, Mary Temple of Georgia, Jim Temple of Georgia, Sheryl Temple Cavazza of Bali. Pre-deceased by his wife of 61 years, Vera (Wall) and his son, Thomas Temple and granddaughter, Cynthia Spear. Also survived by a brother, John Temple, brother-in-law, Edgar Erb both of Vassar. 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and long time caregiver, Judy Clairmont. Bob, as he was commonly known, graduated from Mayville High School and went on to graduate from General Motors Institute in Flint, owned Vassar Electric for many years and retired from Eaton Manufacturing in Vassar. He was a past member of Rotary International and Gideons International, serving as State President and State Treasurer, a life-time member of the Cass River Camp of the Gideons, having served many positions over the years. He has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Vassar for 60 years, having served as a Deacon for many years. He also traveled extensively to the continental states and Bali, Australia and Canada. His sense of humor and his faithfulness to God will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
