Robert Schulz

Age 67, of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. A Mass of Christian burial will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Robert's family will be present at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services to receive friends on Monday from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. Monday evening, family, friends and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. On Tuesday, Robert will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to the North End Soup Kitchen-Flint where he volunteered for 14 years. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Robert was born November 9, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert & Dorothy (Gelhaus) Schulz. Robert graduated with the first graduating class at the Arch Bishop Moeller School in Cincinnati, Ohio, Class of 1964, and graduated from Michigan State University in 1969. He married Barbara Cole on September 7, 1968, in Union Lake, Michigan. He was a teacher for the Flint Community School District for 15 years until becoming the Systems Analyst for the City of Flint, retiring in 2001. Robert, an avid MSU fan, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, gardening and motorcycling. He was known for lending a helping hand to his family and friends with their construction projects big and small. He was the President of the Flushing Roadrunners Square Dance Club. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children, Nathan and wife, Candice Schulz, Andrew and wife, Sarah Schulz and Jill and husband, David Andrako; his mother, Dorothy Schulz; sister, Marilyn Schulz and husband, Kevin McCarthy; six grandchildren, Luke, Aurora, William, Eleanor, Daniel and Bert; special friends, Robert and Ginnie Darley; and many other family members and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Schulz.
