Age 84, of Clio, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, at Angel Manor. Funeral Service will take place 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Bob’s family will be present to receive friends at the church on Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, then on Saturday from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider memorial contributions to Angel Manor, Angelic Hospice or Messiah Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the church. Bob was born November 11, 1932, in Naylor, Missouri, the son of Elgin and Ethel (Jones) Ross. He moved to Flint in 1950 from Broesley, Missouri, with a suitcase he purchased for $10.00, which is still owned by the family. On October 4, 1952, he and Thelma Irrer were united in marriage at Calvary Lutheran Church in Flint. They celebrated 64 years of marriage this last October. Bob was very kind and witty, he was known to be a talker and a jokester. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends especially when they brought him sweet treats. He proudly served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He worked at General Motors as a skilled tradesman for 31 years retiring in 1981. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, yard work, and building things. He built the family cabin on Long Lake. Bob liked to be outdoors. He spent a lot of time on his 1941 John Deere Tractor and in his Old Blue Truck. He will be missed by all. Left to cherish his memory are wife: Thelma; children: Terry and husband, Mark Salamasick, Nancy and husband, David Hajek and Brian and wife, Linda Ross; grandchildren: Brooke Hajek, Christopher and wife, Meghann Salamasick, Brent Hajek, Alex Ross and Blake Ross; great-grandchildren: Max Martin and Hart Salamasick; four sisters and many other family members, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents, son, Michael Ross, 1 sister and 3 brothers. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love and dedication Bob received at Angel Manor from Angel and her staff, as well as Angelic Hospice.
