Of Jackson, formerly of Mt. Morris, age 96, died Saturday, April 17, 2015, at Countryside Care Center in Jackson. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, April 23, 2015, at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. On Thursday, Robert will be taken to church where he will lie in state from 10:00 am until time of mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions can be directed to Michigan State University-Ralph Young Foundation. Robert was born December 11, 1918, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto and Alice (Stiles) Beck. He and Margaret Burns were united in marriage February 27, 1943, in Los Angeles, California. Sadly, she preceded him in death on September 6, 2008. Robert was a Michigan State University Alumni and enjoyed watching MSU sports. Robert proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII, on the USS Randolph and USS New Jersey, he continued in the navy reserves until he retired as a lieutenant commander. He belonged to the Civitan International in Jackson. He will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his five children: Suzanne and husband, Keith Nieberding, Carl Beck, Mary Beck, Michael and wife, Diana Beck, and Daniel and wife, Sheila Beck; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers: Francis Beck and William Beck.
