Of Mt. Morris, age 53, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Henry Ford Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, February 16, 2009 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. Rev. Erik Cloeter will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. DougAaas family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Saturday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am until 8:00pm. On Monday morning, Doug will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Messiah Lutheran Church Choir. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Doug was born December 16, 1955 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James and Peggy (Parker) Averill. He and Kelly Kay Webber were united in marriage June 5, 1999. Doug worked for General Motors, retiring after 30 years of service and was also a man of strong faith, attending Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio, where he was active in the choir. In DougAaas free time, he enjoyed golfing, singing and fishing. He was a very loving husband and father and was a true Prince of A Guy. Doug leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife; Kelly Averill; children, Susan and Ryan Averill, and RyanAaas fiance Susan Jones; mother, Peggy Averill; brothers, John and Shari Averill and James and Cherie Averill; sisters, Patricia and Tom Coulter and Kim and James Wolodkin and in-laws; Madelon and Ted Tolson and William Webber, Sr.; Kimberly and Tom Bois and William Jr. and Lori Webber. Doug is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James Averill.
