Richard was born in Flint on January 5, 1934, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Josephine (Karas) Taylor. Educated locally, Richard attended trade school at GMI and obtained his certificate as a Tool and Die Maker. Shortly after obtaining his certificate, Richard started his career at General Motors where he continued his trade until his retirement in 1995. Richard met and married the love of his life, Kathleen Jackson, on May 25, 1957. Sadly, she preceded him in death on May 18, 2015. In his younger years, Richard spent much time camping with his family at Wolverine Campground and Old Orchard Park in Oscoda, as well as fishing on Long Lake in Hale, and hunting with his children in Oscoda. Spending time with his beloved wife going to rummage sales and bus trips to visit other states were some of his favorite pastimes. Richard was very active in the City of Clio and held the title of President of the Lions Club for a few terms. He also helped build the Clio Senior Center. An avid car guy, he loved cars, and refurbishing them was his favorite hobby. Of the many vehicles he refurbished, his ‘37 Dodge Pickup Truck was his favorite. He would attend every car show at Twins Pizza in Clio on Monday nights, Dairy Queen in Clio on Tuesday nights, and the City Park in Otisville every Wednesday night all summer long every year. He was currently working on an ‘80s Fox Body Mustang. Along with his cars, he loved hot rods and attending tractor shows to look at the old machinery. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish Richard's memory are his sons: Bruce Taylor and Steve and wife, Fran Taylor; grandson, Scott Taylor; granddaughter, Amy and husband, Anthony Hull-Roberts; great-granddaughter, Melody; sister, Betty Eigenauer; sister-in-law, Norma Taylor; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathleen; daughter, Karen Hull; parents; and brother, Donald Taylor.
