Rev. Thomas Jordan Sr.

December 2, 1934 — May 6, 2017

Age 82, of Mt. Morris, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at his home in Mt Morris. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Rev. Willis Hurley to officiate with burial to follow in Thetford Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring to make memorial contributions in Thomas’ memory may direct them towards Old Beth-el General Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mr. Jordan was born December 2, 1934, in New Madrid, Missouri to the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard and Martha Emmaline (Teel) Jordan. He and Esther Christine Goodroe were united in marriage in 1965. Sadly she preceded him in death August 28, 1993. In 1994, God’s plan brought Thomas and Mary (Vance) Aldridge together. The two were united in marriage on December 30, 1994, and were able to cherish 23 wonderful years together. Thomas served his country proudly in the Marine Corps from 1955 until 1959. On August 5, 1967, Thomas was ordained as a General Baptist Minister and served the Lord for the rest of his days. Recently, Thomas was the Pastor of Old Beth-el General Baptist Church in Flushing and enjoyed studying the Bible. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and nature, working in his woodworking shop, and visiting his friends and family in Missouri and Arkansas for annual reunions. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary (Aldridge) Jordan; son, Rusty Jordan; daughter, Jeri and husband, Bill Freuck; stepchildren: Curtis and wife, Dona Aldridge, Tom and wife, Ann Aldridge, Mary and husband, Dale Hall, Robert and wife, Joann Aldridge, Richard and wife, Marion Aldridge; numerous step grandchildren, and special friends. He is welcomed into heaven by his parents, first wife, Esther Christine (Goodroe) Jordan, siblings: James William Jordan, Lorene Ray, Verble Rowe, and Elizabeth Abshire; many nieces and nephews.
