Of Mt. Morris, age 73, died Friday, September 11, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 10:30am, Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Saint Charles & Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Rev. Fr. Jerry Ploof will officiate with cremation to follow. Paul's family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Monday from 10:00am until 8:00pm. On Monday evening family, friends and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 7:00pm. On Tuesday Paul will be taken to church to lie in state from 9:30am until time of Mass. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or to Macular Degeneration Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Paul was born October 6, 1935 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard and Irene (Carto) Welch. He and RoseMarie (Asaro) were united in marriage October 13, 1956 in Flint. Paul was the Bank Manager for Standard Federal Bank until retiring in 1997. Paul served in the United States Army before receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1956. He was a member of the Mt. Morris K of C, American Legion Post #225 and also a member of Clio Rotary from 1974-1996. Paul was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family was most important to him. Paul leaves to cherish his memory his wife, RoseMarie Welch; 4 children; Paul Dennis and wife, Deborah, Joseph Michael and wife, Lynda, Michael John, Timothy Allen and wife, Karen; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, John F. and wife, Judith, Dale G. and wife, Maureen, 3 sisters; Barbara Smith, Rosemary and husband, Louis Dorman,and Elizabeth Temple. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donny, and Jim.
