Ortt Drake

Age 94, died Sunday, April 22, 2018. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 1:30 pm, Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, with the burial of Bud’s ashes to follow next to his wife’s, Loydine, at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Bud’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 1:30 pm. Bud was born September 21, 1923, in Dayton, Ohio. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Milber (Sprague) Drake. He graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton, Ohio, in the spring of 1943. From there, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Theater, until the end of WWII. He married the love of his life, Loydine Darby, on October 13, 1945, in Mt. Morris, and then settled in Genesee for 64 years. Bud enjoyed woodworking, along with his friend Joe. Together he and Joe built shelving for the Johnson Library. He also enjoyed his orchard and making great apple cider in the fall. Left to cherish his memory: sons; William (Anne) Drake; Kenneth (Janice) Drake: grandchildren: Aaron Drake, Ryan (Sarah) Drake, Justin (Christina) Drake, Wendy (Jade) Harlett, Heather (Andy Heins) Drake, Brita (Travis Ensey) Drake; great-grandchildren: McKinley, Zack, Drake, Kayden, Andrew, Matthew, Peyton, Jaden, Ava, Finley, and Regan. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Loydine, and three sisters.
