Opal Shands

Age 86, formerly of Mt. Morris, died March 10, 2014, at her home in Gold Canyon, Arizona. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Opal was born December 24, 1927, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Eve (Meek) Overman. She and Carl Shands were united in marriage on April 4, 1946. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. Opal leaves to cherish her memory children, Harold and Sandra Parker; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Betty, Evelyn, Jim, Bill, Jack and Richard; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Shands; son, Tommy; son-in-law, Sam Parker; grandson, Alan Sean Parker; siblings, Edward, Everett, Jewel, Mary Lois, Polly, Pansy, Jesse, and Tim.
