Age 79, of Mt. Morris, died July 22, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon, Friday, July 26, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Evangelist Bob Jones to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Gayle's family will be present to receive friends from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, on Thursday, and again on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Gayle was born on August 16, 1944, in Clarksville, Tennessee, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manuel and Rowena (Greene) Kelly. Educated in Clarksville, Gayle attended Clarksville High School and graduated with the class of 1962. She went on to further her education by attending Clarksville Baptist College. Gayle met her beloved husband, Allen Armstrong, while they were attending church. They fell in love and were united in marriage on August 24, 1963. Their union was blessed with one beautiful daughter. Gayle was strongly involved at Lake Road Baptist Church in Clio and was the wife of the Pastor. She organized meals for yearly missions conferences and had a gift of singing that she used for church services as well as weddings and funerals. Gayle worked in banking for 7 years and public accounting for over 23 years, working for Mt. Morris Township as the water and sewer accounting clerk, Deputy Treasurer for 5 years, and spent the last 6 years serving as Treasurer. Gayle was great with words and wrote poetry, she could take your life and turn it into a poem. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a great friend to many. In her free time, Gayle enjoyed cooking, reading mystery novels, working crossword puzzles, shopping, and most of all spending time with her family.
Left to cherish Gayle's memory are her beloved husband, Allen Armstrong; daughter, Kelly and husband, David Buswell; grandchildren: Lauren and husband, Phil, Lyndsay and husband, Brenan, Jonathan, Jarrod and wife, Emma, Alexa; great-grandchildren: Isaac, Rosalie, Jack, Mark, David, Katherine, and baby boy on the way; several cousins and special friends.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Phillip “Sonny” Kelly.
