Age 88, of Clio died Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in McLaren Flint. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, Pastor Brian Southerland to officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Milli will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. The family will be present to receive friends from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Crossroads Village. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Millicent “Milli” was born in Flint, Michigan, on November 16, 1933, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Millicent (McGrath) Shaver. Raised and educated locally Milli graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the Class of 1952. She continued her education at Michigan State University, earning certificates in cosmetology and Master Gardener. Milli met, fell in love with and married Louis “Louie” Paxton on June 5, 1953, in First Baptist Church, sadly Louie preceded her is death in February 2001. Milli loved to travel, she was one to try new things, and look for adventures. She traveled all over the United States and to Europe. Milli owned and operated a beauty salon before her retirement. Milli volunteered and was a life member of Crossroads Village, she loved being involved with all the activities and holiday celebrations held there. She also tended all the flowers and gardens throughout the village. Milli was a proud member of the Genesee County Herb Society, they hosted all different community activities and fundraisers throughout the year. Milli enjoyed spending time outdoors especially in her own flower and herb gardens, she took a lot of pride in her gardens. As a member of Colonial Baptist Church, Milli spent a lot of time volunteering at the events the church hosted. In her spare time, Milli enjoyed bowling and pottery, her family loved the items she would paint and surprise them with. Milli was very artistic, compassionate and caring. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters: Lucy Gerhardt and Linda Scott; special nieces and nephews: Linda (Rick) Martin, Dan (Adriane) Freeman, Larry (Cindy) Gerhardt, Sherry (Robbie) Privett, Ricki (Michael) Thompson, Andy Scott, Don (Connie) Hart, Abbie (Scott) Mills, and Aaron (Jessie) Hart: close friends: Vicki Ames, and Jeff Ames; several other family members and close friends. Milli was preceded in death by her loving husband Louie, her parents; sisters: Grace Freeman, Helen Hickey, close friends: Marion Ames, and Pat Spohn.
