Age 81, of Akron, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at Bay Care County Health Facility in Essexville. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 am at Wisner United Methodist Church. Rev. Jackie Raineri will officiate with a luncheon at church to follow the service. The family will gather to receive friends at church on Saturday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring to make memorial contributions in Merlene’s memory, may direct them to her family. Envelopes will be available at the church. Mrs. Doud was born October 1, 1934 in Akron, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Merlin and Beatrice Black. She and Nelson Doud were united in marriage on April 18, 1954 in Akron. Together they shared 62 wonderful years together. For many years Merlene worked as a cashier at Bills Food Land, the Circle S in Akron, and the Log Cabin in Wisner. She was also a saleswoman for Avon for 20 years. Merlene enjoyed the simple things life had to offer like deer hunting, fishing, and crocheting. She was a member of the Wisner United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memory are, her husband, Nelson Doud; two sons, Martin and wife, Laura Doud, and Wade and wife, Linda Doud; six grandchildren: Christine Reder, Tracy and husband, Jim Miller, Bryce Doud, Kyle Doud, Jason Doud, and Ashley Doud: two great-grandchildren: Lindsey Reder, and Gunner Miller; sister, Donna Huffman. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Bryan Doud; three sisters: Evelyn Amoss, Jean Sharp, and Mary Lou Kramer, and brother-in-law, Dan Huffman.
