Age 85, of Clio, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Gross Assisted Living. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Brian Southerland to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Mary’s family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mary was born in Detroit on February 13, 1936, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Elizabeth (Fendler) Wertz. Mary met and married the love of her life, Alton Trepanier, on June 6, 1973. Mary worked as a waitress at Angelo’s Coney Island and Grandma’s Recipe, retiring in 2010. As a member of the Flint Eagles Club #629, Mary enjoyed spending time dancing and listening to country music. She also spent much time out in her flower garden. She loved bleeding heart flowers and anything blue. Crocheting was another of her favorite hobbies. Mary made many blankets, sweaters, and scarves for her family and friends. In her quiet time, Mary enjoyed reading novels like Danielle Steele and Mary Higgins Clark. She loved her family and loved spending time with them. She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish Mary's memory are her children: Carol and husband, Bob Daniels, David and wife, Tammy Holland, Linda and husband, Tim Jackson; eight grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa White; son-in-law, Lary Thornton; brother-in-law, Clyde McCollum; companion, Chuck Crawford. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Alton; parents; daughter, Sheryl Thornton; her brother, Andrew Wertz; and sister, Ann McCollum.
