Mary Jo Mckenzie

Age 47, of Flint, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at McLaren Flint. A funeral service will take place, 2:00 pm, Friday, August 26, 2022, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services of Mt. Morris. Chaplain Hank Messing to officiate with cremation to follow. Mary's family will gather at the funeral home on Friday morning to receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Mary was born in Flint, on August 25, 1974, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Darius and Reva Belle (Marsh) McKenzie. Educated locally, Mary graduated from Beecher High School with the class of 1992. Mary worked as the administrative assistant in Building and Code Enforcement departments at Genesee Township Police Department and Township offices. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling-especially to Scotland. Her favorite pastimes included genealogy, studying the Civil War, thrift shopping, watching Outlander, and being out in nature taking long walks. One of her favorite destinations was going to her very best friend, Melinda's cabin up north, where she spent many fun times with her closest friend. Mary was incredibly kind, and intentional with her treatment of others, and she was always the first to help a person in need. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Sarah, Cody, and Kacie; siblings: Melinda, Pat, Doris, Pam, Crystal, Patricia, Betty, Cindy, Lee, Michael, Wesley; special friends: Frieda, Terri, and Jim; and a special cousin, Bev. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, birth mother, Christine; and her three sisters: Diane, Diane, and Linda.
