Age 87, of Oakland, formerly of Grand Blanc, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022, at home with her family by her side. In accordance with Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later time. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Mary’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.
Mary was born in Detroit on November 13, 1934, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Phyllis (Shefferly) McEntee. Educated locally, Mary graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit with the Class of 1952. Mary met the love of her life, James Keller, at a party at her home. The two dated, fell in love, and were married on November 28, 1958. Their union would be blessed with four wonderful children. Mary loved art and taught as an art docent at the Detroit Institute of Art. She was amazing at teaching children and was a wonderful tutor for several children over the years. Mary volunteered her time as a probation officer as well as delivered food for Meals on Wheels. Staying active throughout her life, Mary enjoyed walking, riding her bike, and cross-country skiing, as well as traveling all over the west side of the country to see the mountains. Mary loved people and had many friends whom she went out with almost every weekend. Later in her life, she and her wonderful husband moved to Central Oregon for 15 years, until moving back to Michigan to be closer to their family. Mary was named the social director of her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Mary's memory is her loving husband of 64 years, James; children: Bill and wife, Loretta Keller, Sharon and husband, Steve Zurilgen, Tom and wife, Sue Keller, Paul and wife, Vivian Keller; grandchildren: Anne, Sarah, Sheli, James, Ben, Tish, Nina, Andrea, Tara, Kate, Jesse; great-grandchildren: Grace, Claire, Lyla, Liam, Mary, Zoey, Lincoln, Jade, Henry, Sofia; siblings: Julie O'Gara, Phyllis and husband, Doug Pease; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carol Motschall.
