Died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, on Monday, March 31, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris, Pastor Mark McCallum will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Sunday from 12 noon to 8:00 pm. On Monday, Margaret will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Margaret was born May 26, 1937, in Haleyville, Alabama, the daughter of Belton and Mary Letha (Knight) Donaldson. She and Charles Smith were united in marriage on August 4, 1956. Margaret worked for the Genesee County Parks and Recreation, at Crossroads Village for 30 years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris, where she served in a variety of capacities. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 57 years, Charles; two children, Jonathan and wife, Ronda Smith, and Margaret Cole and Tom Billingsley; five grandchildren, Sarah and husband, David King, Anthony "Tony" Smith, River Smith, David J. Cole, and Spencer A. Cole; great-grandson, Braden King; sister, Barb and husband, Bernard Reno; nephews, Steve Reno and Jeff and wife, Stacy Reno; sister-in-law, Iva Figgins; and step-brothers, Larry Gray, Alan Gray, and Danny Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant daughter, Mary.
