Lori Hamel

Lori Anne Hamel, 61, of Clio, MI passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024. Lori was born April 22, 1963 in Detroit, MI to Daniel and Sarah Hamel (Knight). She was the youngest of seven siblings and is survived by her brothers, Daniel (Trudy), James, and sister, Nancy Fretland. Lori was preceded in death by her brother, Gary, and sisters, Mary Lynn Larsen, Sister Ruth O.P., and sister-in-law, Karen (James) Hamel.

Lori was raised in a loving Christian home provided by Raymond and Anna Mae Swartz, alongside their nine children: Lois (Marcos) Orozco, Joe (Kathy), Doug (Pam), Jewel (Bruce) Martin, Steve (Phyllis), Roseann (Leonard) Parsons, Mark (Mary), Matt (Veia), Tim (Diane), and Dorell Coates.

In February 2006, Lori and Dorell moved to a faith-based group home, Kindred Spirit, where they would both live out their lives in a loving Christian environment. Lori’s pastimes and hobbies included coloring, word finds, watching Little House on the Prairie, Lion King, Bonanza, and Family Matters, making shopping lists and writing letters. She loved to sing. Her favorite song was “Amazing Grace”. Some of Lori’s favorite meals included lemon cake, lemon meringue, nachos from Taco Bell, and dining at Bob Evans. She loved bowling, swimming and DANCING!!! Oh, and let’s not forget her love of sparkly baubles! Lori also loved listening to stories about Jesus. Her Sunday school teacher would come every week to their home for a lesson and Lori loved to participate. Lori was loved throughout her life and will be missed by many.
