Lois Marie Berry was born on February 21, 1942, in Grand Ledge, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth and Magdalene (Sinclair) Bates. Lois graduated from Whittemore-Prescott Area High School in 1960. She met, fell in love with, and married the love of her life, Carl Irving Berry on June 24, 1961, at the Pine Run Church of Christ in Clio, Michigan. Their marriage would be blessed with three beautiful children, to whom Lois cherished deeply. Sadly, Carl would precede Lois in passing on July 24, 2006. Lois was a caring soul who took pride in comforting and caring for anyone. This admirable trait was expressed in her work at the Living Joy Assisted Living home in Flushing, Michigan, where she cared for many patients for several years.
Lois was devout in her faith. She played a valuable role in many churches throughout her life, including the Pine Run Church of Christ, the Saginaw Bay Church of Christ, and the 2/42 Community Church in Bay City. Not only did Lois sing in the choir for the children, she also was the teacher at Sunday school. Lois was so full of faith, she attended church every Sunday until her battles with cancer began. Lois made an impact on all she knew, being seen as a social butterfly who could talk with anyone. In her free time, she enjoyed watching television, especially her favorite show, General Hospital.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Raymond Berry, Dennis and wife, Maurie Berry; her daughter: Karen and husband, Jeff Blue; her two grandchildren: Brittany and husband, Matthew Kokott, Justin and wife, Faline Blue; her four siblings: Kenneth Bates, Judy Shehan, Gloria Leonard, David and wife, Juli Bates; as well as many beloved friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years: Carl; and her parents.
