Leon Galonska

January 5, 1944 — March 16, 2008

Of Vassar, formerly of Saginaw, age 64, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at his home with his family by his side. Leon was born January 5, 1944 in Saginaw the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon J. and Frances (Cyborowski) Galonska. He and Ruth Masica were united in marriage September 28, 1968. Leon retired from Delphi Aa" Saginaw Steering Systems in 2002 after 34 years of service. He also owned and operated Galonska Trucking for many years. He was a member of St Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar and the Knights of Columbus, Council #4232. He enjoyed bowling, being outdoors, animals, polka music and going to the casino. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Ruth, two daughters; Juliet L. Galonska and husband James Nalen of Osceola, Wisconsin, Sandra E. Galonska of Reese, one very special granddaughter, Margaret Nalen, sister, Marlene and husband Richard Hackford of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. Rev. Fr. Steven Killey will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Saginaw. LeonAaas family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Tuesday from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. On Wednesday morning, Leon will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
