Of Vassar, age 81, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Brians House in Bay City. The funeral service will take place 11:00am Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Vassar. Rev. John Becker will officiate with cremation to follow. Family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Sunday, July 26, 2010 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday. On Monday morning, Mr. Garlick will be taken to church where friends may call from 10:00am until time funeral at 11:00am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Leigh was born October 4, 1928 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leigh and Mabel (Rabidue) Garlick. He and Audrey R. (Misener) Garlick were united in marriage April 1, 1950. Leigh had been employed at Eaton Corporation and Grede Foundry in Vassar for 26 years. He loved being a member of Frankenmuth Woodcarver's Guild. Further, he enjoyed turkey hunting with his sons, writing poetry and short stories, crossword puzzles, Michigan State sports, football, being active in his church, and most of all, he loved being with his family. Surviving are his wife, Audrey Garlick of Vassar; four children, Emilee and husband, Tom Best, Eric and wife, Patricia Garlick, Julie Surprenant and fiance, John Sullivan and Scot and wife, Tamara Garlick; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Rachel, Ryan, Dena, Alaina, Evan and Jared; three great-grandchildren, Camden, Jacob and Marleigh; and sister, Leona Garlick. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson.
