Lavone Pierce

Of Vassar, age 69, died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family will be available to receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 1:00pm until 8:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Lavone was born February 11, 1940 in Turner, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Weldon and Edna (Kinney) Gibbs. She and James David Pierce were united in marriage on May 2, 1959. She will be remembered for her love of family, Bingo, and camping. Lavone leaves to cherish her memory husband, James Pierce; children, Jimmy Pierce, Terri and husband, Fritz Herline, and Tammy Jo Pierce; mother, Edna Schwartz; siblings, Warren and wife, Dorthy Gibbs, Cheryl and husband, Lawrence Sage; two grandchildren, Steven and wife, Courtney Owens, Shannon Owens; and beloved dog, Chester. She was preceded in death by her father, Weldon; sisters, Sandra and Lynette; brother, Dennis.
