Age 81, of Flint, peacefully passed Friday, February 26, 2021, at Landings of Genesee Valley. Memorial Mass will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Flint. Rev. Fr. Tom Firestone to officiate. Laura’s family will begin receiving visitors at 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Laura was born in Flint, Michigan, on December 28, 1939. She graduated from Grand Blanc High School with the Class of 1958. After raising her children she continued her education at Spring Arbor University earning her Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources. Laura spent nearly 30 years in health education. She started her career at Flint Osteopathic Hospital then went on to work at St. Mary's Hospital of Saginaw. She was also a motivational speaker at many conferences. As an active member in her community, Laura was a member of Saginaw Lions Club, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, the Democratic Party, and a leader in Explorer Scouts, an affiliate of Boy Scouts of America, as well as many others. Laura’s faith propelled her later in life. She was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of B.E. a peer ministry group. She was an avid book reader, a trivia buff, and in these last years, a Hallmark Channel fan. Laura was a true people person who loved laughter. Her love of life and mighty fierce spirit truly defined her in the end. Laura is survived by her children: David (Mary Beth) Foy, Darci (Jim) Racette; brothers: Chris (Jennie) Burhans, Darwin (Sarah) Burhans; sister: Icea (Rick) Clemons, Gretchen (Charlie) West, Tammy (Rich) Brindley; sister-in-law: Patricia Burhans; grandchildren: Matthew, Michael (Ginger), Nicholas, Daniel, Emma, Jackson, and Ian; many nieces, nephews, and so many very special friends. Laura was preceded in death by her parents: Ralph and Alice Burhans; son: Patrick Kenneth Foy; brother: William Burhans; sister: Wilda Foy; brother-in-law: David Foy. Memorial donations may be directed to American Heart Association, envelopes will be available at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Laura's tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com.
