Larry was born on April 25, 1943, in New Madrid, Missouri, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Lorraine (Hodge) Adams. When Larry was four years old, he visited Traverse City with his single mother and two older brothers, to pick cherries. While there, his mother met Harry Kaiser, the man who would become their stepfather. Larry always considered Harry to be his dad as he treated him as his own son. Larry attended school locally, graduating from Atherton High School with the Class of 1962. Larry's career path would lead him to AT&T, where he worked as a Large Business Technician from 1969 until his retirement on December 31, 1999. Larry was also a proud active member of the local Communications Workers of America Union. Larry met the love of his life, Susan Shanks. The two dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 22, 1980. Larry enjoyed spending summers at his vacation home on Fife Lake as well as vacationing in Florida with family and friends. Larry was a huge Bob Seagar fan and has attended several concerts with his daughters. Larry was an avid reader and would read the newspaper from front to back. He also enjoyed reading historical nonfiction books and anything by Steven King. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was the highlight of his life. Larry often volunteered at his grandson’s school where all of the students wanted him to work in their classroom because they knew he always brought Dairy Queen ice cream sundaes for the students on the last day of school. He was a generous, kind, and loving man and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish Larry’s memory are his beloved wife, Susan; children: Jennifer Foster and partner Ben Rinaldi, Gina and husband, Matthew Murphy, Faith and husband, Jerry Shavernoch, Jennifer Reed, Amanda and husband, James Wirsing; 14 grandchildren: 5 great-grandchildren; brothers: Bobby Adams, Ronald and wife, Pam Kaiser; special friends: Ken and Marge Lang, Hans Christensen, Ralph and Janet Secquer; many nieces, nephews, relative, and friends.
