Lance Marshall Palmiter

Age 72, of Vestaburg, died Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Spectrum Health Butterworth. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Outreach Baptist Church in Flint. Rev. Blake Jones to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Lance’s tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com. Lance was born in Saginaw, on August 10, 1948, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George and Marguerite (King) Palmiter. Educated locally, Lance graduated from Flint Central High School with the class of 1967. He went on to further his education at Mott Community College and GMI to obtain his training as a supervisor at General Motors, where he worked until his retirement in 1999. After he retired from GM, he decided he was not yet ready to be done working so he took on a job working for a company called The French Co., traveling to stores, cleaning and fixing shopping carts, and then he moved on to Home Depot until he actually retired. Lance was a jack of all trades, master of many. He was the hardest working man you would ever meet and he put his heart and soul into everything he did. Lance was a jokester with a great sense of humor. His favorite two phrases were “he was born at night but not last night” and “he was doing alright for an old guy.” Lance was an outdoor guy that loved to hunt in Vanderbilt and fish anywhere he could find fish. Cherish memories of camping in the Tawas area with his grandparents when he was a child. Then went to share memories with his family camping at Wolverine Campground in Columbiaville. He loved playing the acoustic, bass, and electric guitar with a traveling gospel band The Bethel-Heirs, and singing, especially Johnny Cash. He was a member of the Bible Methodist Church. He took pride in his very large vegetable garden that was so large he had to give away some of the food. He was famous for his special baked beans. He loved people and being around people. He was a loving and kind man and will be greatly missed. Left to cherish Lance’s memory are his long-time girlfriend, Patty Groom; children: Lance and wife, Regina Palmiter, II, Jeana and husband, Michael Quick, Jason Palmiter, Amanda and husband, Jason Henry; grandchildren: Tyler, Elijah, Destiny, Baylee, Jacob, Emily, Austin, Lois; extended children and grandchildren on the Groom side of the family; several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lance was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Palmiter; sisters: Paula Morris and Linda Gracz; and a brother.
