Age 66, of Mt. Morris, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at her home with her family by her side. In accordance with Kathryn's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Kathryn's honor at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Morris on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at 11:00 am. Pastor Todd Register officiating. Kathryn's family will be present to receive guests at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the McLaren Flint Foundation or to the Karmanos Cancer Foundation. She was born in Flint, on January 9, 1953, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold G. and Margaret E. (McGuffin) Harburn. Kathryn graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School with the class of 1971; from there she would continue her education at the University of Michigan - Flint earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1975. She married the love of her life, Larry Bieling on December 22, 1973, in Flint. Kathryn worked as a school teacher for numerous schools in Michigan, Florida, Georgia, and Indonesia. She and Larry also served as dorm parents at Dalat International School in Malaysia. In her free time, Kathryn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, traveling, shopping, knitting, and cross-stitching. She was known to be a bit of a "foodie" and a coffee and chocolate connoisseur. She also loved new experiences. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry; daughters: Julia and husband, Kevin Smithwick, and Lauren and husband, Daniel West, Caterine and husband, Arif Ibrahim, and Rosaline and husband, Rio Mone; grandchildren: Josiah and Ronan Smithwick, Maci and Gibson West, Audrey Ibrahim, Rai and Dara Mone; brother, George and wife, Christy Harburn; and many other family members and friends. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers: Charles and Dennis Harburn.
