Kathleen Vollweiler

August 27, 1921 — February 6, 2012

Of Mt. Morris, age 90, died Monday, February 6, 2012 at her home. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Friday, February 10, 2012 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Gerald Ploof will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Thursday from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. Thursday, friends and family will gather at the funeral home at 6:00 pm to pray the Rosary. Friday morning, Kathleen will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to Genesys Hospice or St. Mary Catholic Church or School. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Kathleen was born August 27, 1921, in Birch Run, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin and Ellen (Mahany) Courtney. She and Milton Vollweiler were united in marriage; he preceded her in death.. Kathleen worked with St. Joseph Hospital for a total of 20 years as a nurse's aide, but her most important job was raising her family. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church since 1966, was a member of the Altar Society and sang in choir. She was a seamstress, known for her fancy dresses and clothing, as well as being a millinery. She also loved to garden, fish, bowl and travel. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Janet Smeltzer, Thomas and wife, Esther Voelker, Phyllis Cliff, Kathleen and husband, Jerry Perkins, William and wife, Laurie Voelker, Margaret and husband, Guy Patterson and Deborah and husband, William Halloun; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; father of her children, John Voelker; favorite sister-in-law, Dorthy Courtney; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 12 years, Milton; daughter, Linda LaRochelle; and all seven brothers and sisters.
